The General Services Administration (GSA), which manages buildings owned by the Federal Government, is planning to close all its electrical vehicles across the country, describing them as “non -critical mission”. The agency, which administers contracts for government vehicles, is also seeking to charge the newly purchased EV.
GSA currently operates several hundred EV charges across the country, with nearly 8,000 plugs available for government-owned EVs, as well as personal vehicles of federal employees.
The official guidance that instructs federal workers begin the process of closing the charges will be announced within the next week, according to a source with knowledge of plans. Some regional offices have been told to start taking their loaders off -line, according to a first email from eve.

“While GSA has worked to approximate the current administration, we have taken the direction that all GSA loading stations are not critical of the mission,” the email said.
GSA is working at the time the cancellation of current network contracts that keep the EV charges functioning. Once those contracts are canceled, the stations will be obtained from the service and “turn off at the switch,” the email reads. Other charges will turn off starting next week.
“Neither government -owned vehicles nor privately owned vehicles will be able to charge these accusing stations as they do not serve,” he concludes.
At the GSA Denver office, employees have been told that EV chargers in four federal -owned buildings will be taken out of line next week. The news was first reported by Colorado Public Radio.
According to the Biden administration, GSA was responsible for implementing the President’s plan to extract the use of the federal government of gas power vehicles in favor of EV. The federal government owns approximately 650,000 vehicles, more than half of which would be replaced by EV.
Those new EVs would need reliable places to load. GSA will also begin to load EV that bought under the administration of Biden, the source said. It is unclear whether those vehicles will be sold or simply placed in storage. It is also unclear whether other federal agencies will make similar decisions for their EVs, although many of those agencies tend to use GSA charges for their plug-in vehicles.

President Donald Trump campaigned with a promise to restore his predecessor EV policies, which he labeled a “mandate”.
